Brand New Facetheory Makeup Collection: 4 basic products to accomplish a beautiful makeup

It is not a secret that Facetheory brand is taking a stand in skincare industry, with its wide range vegan and cruelty-free products and now the brand decided to try itself in makeup industry. So today’s post is the official Facetheory Makeup Review from Blooming Blonde (and if you want to make a purchase there’s a Facetheory discount code in the end of this article).

I was pretty excited when I got a notice about Facetheory sending me some goodies to try out and I waited a bit and patiently, once my package was experiencing a delay as this makeup collection was in high demand and disappeared from brand’s warehouses in no time and Suez Canal blockage made things even more difficult. However, I finally got my kit, although incomplete (the brush kit is still being restocked and I guess it will be reviewed separately) and what I got was: Foundation with a Soft-focus finish and SPF15 4-star UVA protection, Blusher with Ultra-Pigmented Gel Formulation, Mascara with High-Definition Conditioning Formula, Lip Colour with high pigmentation and silky finish.

At the first sight, this is a very good basic kit. Foundation and blusher come in a trendy and recyclable aluminum tubes, while mascara and liquid lipstick com in a traditional plastic tube version with a classy black or dark grey finish. There is a pretty good potential, but there are some pros and cons that shall be considered when ordering the brand new Facetheory Makeup Collection from the website and which will be discussed individually below.

Facetheory Foundation
Foundation with a Soft-focus finish and SPF15 4-star UVA protection

Facetheory Foundation is a lightly textured foundation which gently defused with the skin, enhancing the complexion and providing a healthy-looking sheen. This is a very interesting product as it has a whipped mouse texture (I suppose Facetheory loves whipped products, and so do I, I am pretty in love with their Amil-C Whip cream and other products you may want to read about here). This texture is very different from those I am used to, and it appears to be very “tooth-pasty” thick at the first sight and touch. However, when applying this product, it spreads pretty well by using fingers, blender or a brush, and more you spread it on your skin, the better it diffuses with it, providing a very soft and natural look.

The very big pro of this foundation is that it provides the SPF and UVA protection, which is very important for our skin get protected from the burning effect of the sun and, of course, ultraviolet rays (even on cloudy days) which penetrate the skin more deeply, influences the ageing process, causing wrinkles, sun spots etc. and also cause long-term damage as skin cancer.

Now, the things that I found that could be enhanced on this foundation is the fact that it is not a long-wearing foundation, as it starts to vanish few hours after its application. It is also a transferable foundation, so you have to use a considerable amount of fixing products in order to this foundation to stay a bit longer, while using a face protection mask (oh, dear Rona!). It is noteworthy to say that you have to be particularly careful while ordering this foundation on the website, as there are only 13 shades available, and the chance you’re getting the right shade is limited. I.e., usually I wear the fairest shade, as my skin is to pale, so when I got the opportunity to try the Facetheory Makeup Collection, I got the shade F1, which is the lightest shade they got. To my amazement, once I applied the foundation, it felt like I was putting a white face paint, since it left my complexion with a very bright whitey shade.

The good thing is that Facetheory seems to be aware of this issue and offers a free replacement (one shade lighter or one shade darker) of the ordered one. I got the F2 shade and it definitely suits me better.

Facetheory Blusher

Blusher with Ultra-Pigmented Gel Formulation

This is definitely my favorite item from the collection! There are four shades available: Shade 1, which seems to be a peachy color; Shade 2, which is a mix of a pale pink mixed with red shade (although on the website it looks more orange); Shade 3, much vivid version of Shade 2; and, finally the Shade 4, which is a brown version, and can be used not only as a blusher, but as contour, too.

I got the Shade 2 for me and, although I was a bit sceptic about the color, it does have a beautiful and a delicate color. This blusher is super cool and very fun to use. It is a highly pigmented gel whose intensity can be easily adjusted, creating a long-lasting healthy glow. It really looks like an acrylic paint once you open the tube (and it can become pretty messy, which I guess is the general problem of aluminum tubes: it doesn’t matter how lightly and quickly we press the tube, the paint just doesn’t stop getting out and the same happens with the foundation tubes). But I really do like a very natural effect this Facetheory Blusher creates even on a bare skin.

Facetheory Mascara

Mascara with High-Definition Conditioning Formula

This is a very simple mascara, which provides a very natural look once applied. It has a sculpting and lengthening effect, but, in my opinion, I do not think it really thickens the lashes, providing a volume as brand mentions on their website. It does provide a subtle look, which is perfect for those “natural” and “no-makeup” look days. There’s only one color available – black – and it is far from being waterproof, which makes this mascara to be easily removed by makeup remover or, even, water.

Facetheory Lipstick

Lip Colour

Lip Colour is a silky highly pigmented formula with conditioning and nourishing effect. There are six shades available to suit every taste and, according to the brand, it can be used as a lip stain for a subtle, mattified look and its coverage can be adjusted for a polished or natural look.
Well, I can say that this my least favorite product from the range. Firstly, because once again I failed when choosing the color: I choose the shade 6 and its WAY FAR from what it looks like in a picture, and secondly, I am really having trouble adjusting its coverage, as there is so much product coming from the applicator, that I have to press a paper some four or five times against my lips to absorb the excess.

Generally speaking, this is a pretty lovely essential kit makeup collection which I would keep in my necessaire for sure. If you are interested in try some of these products, I would recommend to do so. However, just remember to be careful when choosing your shade. Also, do not forget that you can use the Facetheory discount code “BBLOOMWORLD” to get 20% of any purchase from the brand’s website.
