What is the best skincare routine for mixed and oily skin to use in summer? This question troubles many of those who have problems in controlling oiliness of our skin. And I am no exception. I have a mixed type of skin – when there are more oily areas, like nose, forehead and chin and dry areas, like eye contour area and cheeks.  It turns out excessively oily during summer and it doesn’t matter the products I used to use, none of them solved the problem. Well, actually, may be some of them got the job done for a couple of hours, but the beautiful matte skin was quickly consumed by a horrifying oily glow.

The ideal solution for this problem is to find products that will not make your skin oily, but will moisturize it and will not dry out dry areas during the cleaning procedure. Also, the range of the products to use depends always from the season. In winter, it’s better to use something richer and dense, and in summer I’d recommend to choose lighter and water-based products. And I think I might have a very good suggestion to these…

I’ve been postponing this post for a few weeks, firstly because I received loads of products and couldn’t not to open and try them all, focusing only on one range. But as soon as I got my focus back on track, I needed to be sure that what I am going to talk about here today is actually true and not an illusion and that all the products I am going to mention in this post are actually good and make and excellent option as a skincare routine for mixed and oily skin.

I guess, you all already know about PIXI by Petra beauty range. Cruelty-free, vegan and full of hard-working makeup and skin care products. If you still are not familiar with this brand you can read my other posts about it here and here. Few months ago, I received in my mailbox the complete set of Glow range skin treats, a formula which promised to retrieve that beautiful and healthy glow to my skin.

The set contained:

Glow Tonic Cleansing GelGlow Tonic Cleansing Gel

A not foamy solution, which, in my opinion, is ideal for mixed and only skin, since it gently removes impurities, hydrates it, brightens and energizes the skin. This is the element to start the daily skincare routine. Simply apply a small amount of this gel into a damp skin, massage for 30 seconds and rinse.

Glow TonicGlow Tonic

As I already wrote about this VERY popular tonic here, this is s a refreshing solution that instantly brightens, tones and conditions the skin. Enriched with 5% glycolic acid this gentle, exfoliating tonic dissolves dulling cells to reveal the ‘new’ healthy skin cells underneath. After cleaning the skin with Glow Cleansing Gel, few sweeps of this tonic over the skin will gradually diminish signs of sun damage, fine lines, scarring and other imperfections.

Glow Tonic SerumGlow Tonic Serum

This lightweight serum is a true miracle! Two or three drops of this serum onto cleansed and toned skin immediately soften it, by gently exfoliating and nourishing the skin, providing all the necessary balance and smoothness.

The final touch in this skincare routine for mixed and oily skin is, of course, a moisturizer and this gel makes its job pretty well. This soothing formula helps to balance and stabilize the skin pH, providing all the necessary moisture.

These four products are now a part of essential products on my beauty table, because, since I have started to use them on regular basis, I have noticed that my skin looks healthier, nourished and glowing.

On The GlowWell, but it is not all, the package also contained a travel friendly solid moisturizer, On-the-Glow. A little stick that perfectly fits in a purse, you can bring with you wherever you want. I loved the idea so much, but it happens that this is my the least favorite product. No, it is a great moisturizer and all the ingredients in it treat your skin so well. It is pretty easy and fun to use. But personally, I don’t like how sticky and heavy it feels once it applied and it takes a bit to be absorbed. So, as I said it is a good product, but not for my personal taste.

So, getting back to the most important question of this post: Should you include Pixi Beauty products in your summer skincare routine for mixed and oily skin?

Yes, I think you should! The Glow range is very lightweight formula that can be used on a daily basis and that will actually provide all the necessary elements to maintain your skin moisturized and nourished and help you to get the natural and healthy (not oily at all!) glow.
